WHOIS Lookup

Recon & Discovery

Query authoritative registrar WHOIS records for any domain over port 43.

What is WHOIS Lookup?

WHOIS Lookup talks directly to the correct registry WHOIS server for the domain’s TLD and returns the raw registration record — registrar, important dates, name servers and (where published) registrant contacts.

It picks the right server automatically from a built-in map of TLDs, falling back to IANA for anything unusual, so you get an accurate answer without guessing which WHOIS host to ask.

What you get

  • Registrar & status — who manages the domain and its current lock/transfer status.
  • Key dates — creation, last update and expiry, useful for spotting freshly registered or soon-to-lapse domains.
  • Name servers — the authoritative DNS the domain points to.
  • Registrant data — organization and contact details where the registry publishes them.
  • Raw record — the full unparsed response for anything the summary misses.

Where it fits in your workflow

  • Confirm ownership and age of a domain during scoping and OSINT.
  • Spot expiry windows and infrastructure clues (shared name servers, registrar patterns).

Frequently asked questions

Why are contact details hidden?

Most registrars now apply privacy/redaction in line with GDPR and similar laws, so personal contact fields are often masked. Dates, registrar and name servers remain visible.

Which TLDs are supported?

Common TLDs route to their dedicated registry; anything else falls back to the IANA WHOIS server, which points you to the responsible registry.
